Aigburth FC 0–1 Kirkby FC: a professional afternoon
A narrow win and a clean sheet provide a moment of calm before tomorrow's quick turnaround.
It is a decent result. One goal is rarely a comfortable way to spend an afternoon, but we will take the three points. The boys held their nerve and the clean sheet is a nice touch. I think the lads are quite proud of it, though I noticed our centre-half spent most of the final ten minutes staring intensely at a blade of grass. It is a professional performance. We are not claiming to have solved the league just yet, but it feels good to get a win under our belts. We have very little time to celebrate now. There is another game tomorrow, so we have to reset quickly. If we can keep this level of discipline, we might actually be a nuisance to the teams at the top. For now, we will enjoy the quiet victory and then get back to work.
