Honorio Olabarría managed a single assist, but the goals have dried up. The substitutions are an afterthought. Diego Guadalupe appeared for 26 minutes in one match, while Esteban Brizuela has seen a total of 41 minutes across two games. These are not tactical shifts: they are brief visits.

There is a sense that the intermediary who assembled this squad promised a cohesive unit. Instead, Aigburth have a collection of players who are very well acquainted with one another. They have spent 810 collective minutes together across three games and have one point to show for it.

The numbers do not settle whether this is a genuine tactical philosophy or merely a manager who dislikes the paperwork involved in changing the team sheet. They sit 19th in the table, having conceded four goals and scored one. With Matchday 4 arriving tomorrow, the question is whether they will trust the same nine men to find a goal, or if there is finally a clause in the manager's patience that allows for a change.
