Pendle 1–1 Hitchin: Quayle reaches five

Hitchin Athletic drew 1-1 with Pendle Athletic on Monday 24 August. The result was less notable than the contribution of Noel Quayle, who scored to reach five goals this season. It is a respectable tally (though perhaps not one for the history books).

Marlborough United extended their lead at the summit. They managed a 2-1 win over Jesmond AFC to reach 56 points. Stepney FC sit in second with 51, following a 1-1 draw against Heaton AFC. Wellsford Athletic remain in third on 49 points after a 1-1 result with Brixton AFC.

Wigston FC and Kirkby FC both recorded comfortable 2-0 wins against Llandaff Athletic and Mancunia FC respectively. Beeston AFC provided the day's widest margin, beating Wessex United 3-1. Much of the afternoon was otherwise quiet. Three other matches ended 1-1, including a fairly static encounter between Sussex Athletic and Edgbaston FC. Aigburth FC took a slim 1-0 win at Acton United.

Arthur Fortesque continues to lead the golden boot race with 12 goals. He remains reasonably clear of the pack.

There is little time to reset. The league moves immediately into the next matchday tomorrow.
