Acton United 1–2 Wednesbury Athletic: Lecuona reaches five

Wednesbury Athletic managed a 2-1 win at Acton United on Saturday 22 August. The highlight was Baltasar Lecuona scoring his fifth goal of the campaign. It is a milestone of sorts. He has now reached a tally that suggests he is no longer merely a passenger.

Lecuona is not precisely the sort of player who keeps a keeper awake at night. He tends to operate with the urgency of a man waiting for a bus in the rain. However, five goals is five goals. It is a respectable return for a man who often looks like he has forgotten why he entered the penalty area. His teammates will likely treat him as a revelation tomorrow.

The goal was probably a result of a defensive lapse (Acton United are fond of those), but the stat sheet does not record the chaos involved. It simply records the goal. He is now, allegedly, the focal point of the Wednesbury attack. One hopes he enjoys the attention while it lasts.
