Tuesday 18 August saw the title race tighten. Marlborough United moved to 44 points after a 2-1 win at Sussex Athletic. They sit one point behind leaders Brixton AFC, who dropped two points in a 1-0 defeat to Edgbaston FC. Wellsford Athletic remain in third on 41 points, having survived a five-goal thriller to beat Llandaff Athletic 3-2.

Acton United continue their particular struggle. They played out a 0-0 draw with Jesmond AFC, meaning they have now gone ten matches without a victory. It is a long stretch of football to play without seeing the net ripple in one's own favour (though the keeper likely enjoyed the rest). They will have little time to reset before tomorrow.

Elsewhere, the day was largely defined by a fondness for the stalemate. Aigburth FC and Hitchin Athletic finished goalless. Beeston AFC and Heaton AFC shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw. Crookes United and Wigston FC both managed two goals apiece, and Kirkby FC played out a similar 2-2 draw against Wessex United.

Mancunia FC secured a professional 1-0 win over Wednesbury Athletic. Stepney FC also took all three points, winning 2-1 at Pendle Athletic.

Arthur Fortesque remains the frontrunner for the golden boot with 11 goals. He is, allegedly, the only player who knows where the goal is at the moment. Typical really.
