Marlborough United 1–1 Pendle Athletic: a modest return
"It is a point. We cannot call it a victory, but we cannot call it a disaster either.

It is just a Tuesday afternoon in the league. We played reasonably well, though reasonably well usually means we spent twenty minutes wondering why the ball would not go in. Pendle are a tidy outfit. They did what they had to do. I noticed a few of our supporters looking particularly devastated by the final whistle, which is a bit much for a draw, really. One man in the third row looked as if he had just lost a relative. We will take the point and move on. There is very little time to reset before tomorrow, so we will not be spending too long staring at the tape. We go again on Wednesday. Hopefully with slightly more clinical finishing, though I am not holding my breath."
