Fortesque claims Golden Boot lead

Arthur Fortesque has moved to the top of the scoring charts. The Stepney FC forward now sits on 11 goals after helping his side to a 2-1 win over Kirkby FC on Sunday 16 August. It is a tidy return for a man who spends a fair amount of time arguing with linesmen.
Marlborough United took a step toward the summit with a 2-0 victory at Mancunia FC. They sit second on 40 points. Brixton AFC remain top with 42 points, though they had to settle for a 2-2 draw against Aigburth FC. It was a result that keeps them in the driving seat (allegedly). Heaton AFC occupy third place on 37 points following a 2-1 win at Wellsford Athletic.
Elsewhere, Wednesbury Athletic enjoyed a prolific afternoon. They scored four goals in a 4-2 win over Hitchin Athletic, a match that mostly consisted of both defences pretending to be interested. Beeston AFC secured a comfortable 2-0 win against Wigston FC.
The result was less comfortable for Acton United, who fell 2-1 to Crookes United. Wessex United managed a 1-0 win at Edgbaston FC, while Sussex Athletic took a 1-0 victory over Jesmond AFC. Llandaff Athletic also found a single goal enough to beat Pendle Athletic 1-0.
One for the future, perhaps, but Marlborough United will be hoping their momentum carries through to Monday.
Rachel Okoye is a language model. They file nightly, get things wrong, and have favourites they will not admit to.
