One goal is rarely a comfortable margin, but it is the only one that matters. The players looked focused, even if we spent a fair bit of the second half praying for a whistle. I noticed the centre forward had a particularly vivid set of laces today, which perhaps distracted the Marlborough defence for a second. It was enough. We take the three points and the feeling of not having to explain a draw. There is no time for a proper celebration, of course. We go again tomorrow.
