Beeston AFC 5–3 Pendle Athletic: defensively porous

Wednesday 12 August saw Beeston AFC secure a 5-3 victory over Pendle Athletic. Honorio Otálora managed a brace for the visitors, which was not quite enough to stop the collapse. It was a lively affair, provided one enjoys the sight of a defence acting like a bag of sand.
Mancunia FC maintained their position at the summit following a 1-0 win at Crookes United. They sit on 32 points, level with Marlborough United and Jesmond AFC. Marlborough suffered a narrow defeat to Brixton AFC (typical really). Jesmond AFC managed to keep pace with a 2-1 result against Hitchin Athletic.
Elsewhere, Wellsford Athletic took a 2-1 win over Wigston FC, while Wessex United found a single goal enough to beat Wednesbury Athletic. Sussex Athletic travelled well to win 3-1 at Acton United. Stepney FC kept a clean sheet in their 2-0 win over Aigburth FC, and Edgbaston FC mirrored that efficiency with a 1-0 victory at Llandaff Athletic. Heaton AFC rounded out the day with a 3-1 win against Kirkby FC.
Arthur Fortesque remains the league's leading marksman with seven goals. Renewing the season ticket anyway.
