Jesmond AFC currently sit atop the table with 22 points following a 2-0 win over Llandaff Athletic on Tuesday 4 August. It is a comfortable lead, though Marlborough United and Heaton AFC remain within touching distance. Marlborough will have to settle for a point after a 2-2 draw with Heaton, a result that keeps the top three tightly packed.

Wigston FC provided the day's most clinical performance, visiting Kirkby FC and leaving with a 3-0 victory. Kirkby spent much of the afternoon looking like a bag of sand. Elsewhere, Pendle Athletic and Acton United both secured narrow 1-0 wins against Edgbaston FC and Wessex United respectively. These were the kind of results that keep a manager in the job for another month.

The day was notable for its lack of resolution. Mancunia FC and Hitchin Athletic played out a 1-1 draw, while Crookes United, Stepney FC, Wellsford Athletic, and Aigburth FC all settled for 2-2 splits. Beeston AFC and Wednesbury Athletic managed a 0-0 draw, which was likely a relief to both sets of defenders. Brixton AFC managed the only high-scoring away win of the day, edging out Sussex Athletic 3-2 in a match that allegedly featured some quality.

In the race for the golden boot, Arthur Fortesque remains the man to beat. He leads the pack with six goals, though he is not exactly scoring in bundles.

There is little time to reset before the next matchday. Jesmond AFC will be keen to maintain their grip on first place, while the rest of the league looks toward tomorrow.
