Look, I'll be straight with you: for a while there, it looked like Edgbaston had simply decided the game was over before the tea had even brewed. Yusuf Bayrak struck in the 3rd minute, an open-play effort that settled the nerves and gave Edgbaston a lead before the crowd had even found their seats. Honestly, it felt a bit unfair to Wigston.

So here's the thing: while Bayrak has spent the last few matches playing the part of the selfless provider, he seemed quite happy to take the glory for once. That early goal set a tone that Wigston couldn't shake, and the collapse became official in the 27th minute when Mickaël Cazenave doubled the lead. It was the kind of goal that drains the energy out of a visiting side, ensuring Edgbaston went into the break with a comfortable 2–0 cushion and a lot of confidence.
