Marlborough United move top after Matchday 3

Marlborough United now sit at the summit of the table. A 3-1 victory over Mancunia FC on Tuesday 28 July took them to nine points, a perfect start that will likely be discussed in hushed tones until the first sign of a slump. Brixton AFC and Heaton AFC follow in second and third with seven points apiece. Brixton secured their position with a professional 0-2 win at Aigburth FC, while Heaton edged past Wellsford Athletic 2-1.

The day was defined by a certain lack of defensive composure. Crookes United and Acton United played out a 3-3 draw, as did Wessex United and Edgbaston FC. It was a lot of goals for very little tactical reward. Llandaff Athletic and Pendle Athletic also shared the spoils in a 2-2 finish.

Elsewhere, Beeston AFC managed a narrow 0-1 win at Wigston FC. Stepney FC took a 1-0 victory over Kirkby FC, while Wednesbury Athletic saw off Hitchin Athletic 2-1. Jesmond AFC were the most comfortable of the lot, beating Sussex Athletic 3-1.

In the golden boot race, Bruno Costantini leads the pack with three goals. He is currently the man for the moment, provided he doesn't spend the next few games missing sitters.
